Why do people get keloid?
Some populations, like the African, Hispanics and Asian populations, experience a higher frequency of keloid. Genetic predisposition is another factor which plays a role in the development of keloid scars. After the skin is injured, body produces excess collagen and connective tissue which repairs the skin beyond the originally damaged skin.

If you have predisposition for developing keloids, You should tell your dermatologist before any skin intervention. Any trauma/skin lesion will have the tendency to develop into keloid. Any stretching in the area of skin injury should be avoided. In addition, the skin should be properly moisturised and hydrated.
