What happens during a facial peel?

On the day of your session, you will be prepped before the treatment. This includes cleansing your skin thoroughly. After you’ve been prepped, the dermatologist will apply the peel quickly and evenly. Dermatologist will watch your skin carefully to remove the peel at just the right time. After the peel comes off, the treated area may be given cool compresses followed by lotion or cream to soothe the skin. After a deep peel, you will have a wound that will require surgical dressing.

What at-home care should I follow after the facial peel?

On the day of facial peel you might experience some irritation, redness and burning sensation. You should gently cleanse your face and follow instructions provided by the dermatologist. Avoid applying anything other than the cream or lotion advised by the dermatologist.

What precautions should I take after facial peel?

Do not apply any skin product except those advised by the dermatologist.

Do not pick any spot or peel off any flaky skin.

Do not use Alpha hydroxy acids or beta hydroxy acids on your skin without consulting dermatologist.

Use sunscreen within SPF of at least 30 and avoid direct sunlight exposure.

Do not scrub your face while washing.

Apply a light moisturizer to the relieve dryness, and tightness of skin.

Do not have any other facial treatment for at least one week after the Peel.

What to expect after superficial depth facial peel?

The healing time for superficial facial peel is between 1 to 7 days. Skin will be red initially. As redness start disappearing there will be minimal scaling on your face which can last up to 3 to 7 days. You should apply lotion or creams as advised by dermatologist until the skin heal. It should be followed by daily use of sunscreen. You should follow up after one week. These superficial facial peel are usually repeated after every 3 to 5 weeks.

What to expect after medium depth facial peel?

The healing time for medium death feel usually lies between 7 to 14 days. Skin will be red and swollen after the facial peel. The swelling usually is visible for the first 48 hours. After that the redness and swelling start decreasing. The skin Crusts and heels off in 7 to 14 days. Skin should be cleaned with a gentle cleanser. After that, an ointment or lotion provided by the dermatologist should be applied. Photoprotection is strictly advised till the skin heals. A follow up visit is required after one week.

Is there a downtime with Facial peel?

Superficial feel is also known as the lunchtime peel, so you can get back to work on the same day or the very next day. After Medium or deep peel, you will usually have a downtime that can range from 5 to 21 days.

Can I apply makeup over treated area after peeling session?

No, cosmetics and makeup should be avoided for at least one week after your peeling session. Applying makeup or cosmetics over the treated area can make the skin irritable and red.

After how much time will I see the results?

The results are visible once the skin start healing. Healing time can range from one day for superficial feel to 14 days for a medium feel or longer for the deep peel. Usually multiple sessions are required for superficial peel to see the desired result.

How long are the results going to last?

Most results achieved with facial peel are not permanent. Repeat sessions are required to maintain the results. This is because of the following reasons: our skin continues to age, new pigment continues to form and daily damage from the Pollution and Sunlight.
