Dermoscopy

Dermoscopy

Dermoscopy or dermatoscopy is the non-invasive in-vivo examination of the skin, hair and nail. It is performed with a special instrument known as dermatoscope and is a painless procedure. Dermoscopy gives valuable clues in the diagnosis of many dermatological conditions and in many cases avoids the need for biopsy.

Procedure

The area to be examined is clean under aseptic precautions and scoped with a dermatoscope under polarised light. Your doctor may apply contact fluids to enhance the visualization of various structures.

Report

A detailed report is provided at the end of the procedure.
